Want to get a taste of both the trails and the river all in one day? Then this is the trip for you. The Roxburgh Gorge Trail will take you from the Lake Roxburgh Dam through to Clyde, with a quick jet boat ride in the middle. That's right, this is a trail of two halves. The middle section is currently not accessible, meaning you and your bike will enjoy a fantastic boat trip on the Clutha Mata-Au.

Take in the stunning views of the rugged bluffs from both land and on the water. and catch a glimpse of the historic gold miners' huts. Once you're back on land, you'll be greeted by the intensely-rich colour palette of the Roxburgh Gorge. You'll wrap up the day by riding into the historic towns of Alexandra and Clyde. Put your feet up, you've earned it.

Set off from the Roxburgh Dam Lookout with stunning northerly vistas across the lake.
From the lookout, head down into a small, secluded valley that opens up into sweeping hill country farmland.
Jump on the Roxburgh Gorge Jet at Shingle Creek for a 30-minute jet boat ride to continue on the trail.
Follow the winding trail through the gorge and navigate The Narrows, an ancient rock slide where the path gets tighter.
Take in all the colours! The blue water, grey schist, purple thyme, and willows and poplars - green or gold depending on the season.
Stop off in Alexandra and sample the local produce from its renowned orchards and vineyards.
